Free, from Performance Chef Jesse Brown

Years on the sideline, finally written down

This is not a recipe book. It is what Performance Chef Jesse Brown has learned across years of feeding youth athletes - the part that has nothing to do with cooking and everything to do with getting a kid through a hot Saturday in one piece.

Heat illness in youth sport is largely preventable. Not with anything expensive or complicated. Mostly with knowing what to do two days out instead of two minutes out, and knowing what a kid in trouble looks like before it becomes an emergency.

So we put it on paper. Three pieces, all free, all yours.

1. For you

The Heat & Recovery Handbook

Eleven pages. Why hydration starts 48 hours before Saturday, sideline cooling that actually drops body temperature, the warning signs that mean you pull a kid out, and where to eat when the last game ends at nine.

Read the handbook

2. For them

The Hot Day Athlete Card

One page, written to the athlete instead of the adult. A timeline from two days out through the ride home, how to cool down fast, and why energy drinks work against them in the heat. Print it and put it in the sports bag.

3. For the car

The Game Day Packing List

Two lists side by side. What goes in the athlete's bag and survives a whole day without ice, and what goes in your cooler and has to stay cold. Plus the two hour rule, because most of what people pack does not survive a hot car.

Read the handbook tonight if you can. The hydration piece has to start two days before the tournament, so Saturday morning is already too late.

Please pass these along

Send them to your team group chat. Send them to your coach - the athlete card is built to be printed and handed out to a whole roster. Give them to the parent two chairs down who is having the same Saturday you are.

We did not write these to sell anything. We wrote them because we kept getting asked the same questions, and because a kid coming off the field in trouble is everybody's problem.
